Young people aged 9–18 (P6 to S6) are invited to join us in The Field every Friday afternoon between 1 - 4 pm to learn about all aspects of horticulture – and gain a qualification at the same time! All sessions are free.

Venue and access information


If you're traveling to the garden by train, get off at Alness train station. From there the garden is a 1.5 km walk away.

The nearest bus station is 'Alness Library' located 600 meters away.

For access by car there is a drop-off and pick-up point at the main gate to the garden.



A toilet block is located close to the main entrance. Please note that there is currently no baby changing facilities on site.




There is priority parking available on site for up to 2 vehicles.


The site is entered through a gate directly onto an area of hard standing. From there, an accessible pathway leads into the stretch tent. The rest of the field is grass which during wet weather can be muddy. The ground around the tent is flat however please note that there are some uneven patches around the garden. There is seating available  throughout the garden.
